The final stage: carefully pour the finished milk into the coffee, and use a spoon to transfer the whipped foam into the drink. Sprinkle finely grated chocolate on top.

It is believed that a truly delicious cappuccino can only be obtained with the help of a coffee machine, which is quite simple to use.

First you need to brew espresso; for this it is better to use a coffee mixture of Robusta and Arabica.

After this, we begin preparing the milk for the coffee drink, which must be fresh and cooled to about 4° C.

Pour the milk halfway into a metal jug (pitcher) and whisk it using a cappuccino maker (steam tap).

Please note that the volume of milk increases significantly.

The main conditions that must be met:

  • The pitcher is tilted at 45 C relative to the cappuccino maker;
  • The spout of the cappuccino maker, lowered into the milk, should be directed to the side;
  • The steam supply is turned on only when the cappuccino maker nozzle is lowered into the pitcher with milk;
  • Cappuccino foam should have a liquid consistency.

Slowly and carefully pour the whipped foam into a cup of coffee.

If the sugar sprinkled on top of the foam does not sink to the bottom of the cup, but remains on the surface, then the foam is considered to have been prepared correctly.

The question: how to make cappuccino in a coffee machine worries a lot of people. Even for professional baristas, this drink remains quite difficult to prepare - in order to get a soft, but at the same time bright and balanced taste, it is necessary to train for more than one month. In today's article we will look at what cappuccino is, how to prepare cappuccino in a coffee machine, as well as the features of the machines for preparing this coffee drink.

The difference between cappuccino and other drinks

There is a significant difference between cappuccino, latte, mocha and other drinks. Thus, the serving method is different - the average capacity of a cup of cappuccino is 180 ml, while the volume of a cup of latte or mocha is at least 240 ml. The difference also lies in the type of foam - in cappuccino it is denser and thicker, in other coffee drinks it is lighter. And of course, the main difference between cappuccino and other coffee-based drinks is strength and taste. For example, latte and mocha have a smooth and soft taste; coffee is practically not felt. Cappuccino has a brighter coffee taste due to a shot of espresso.

What characteristics should a coffee machine have for making cappuccino?

We have come to the main question: how to make cappuccino in a coffee machine? First of all, the coffee machine must meet certain requirements necessary for preparing the drink.

Note that the result does not depend on whether Saeco or Bosch is used, but on the technical characteristics and skills of the person. We recommend paying attention to the following characteristics:

  1. Device type. There are automatic and semi-automatic coffee machines, which differ in operating principle. The first type is the most common: all operations are carried out automatically, the user only needs to place a mug to serve coffee - the question of how to make cappuccino at home disappears by itself. “Semi-automatic machines” are professional machines that are often used by baristas. The preparation process is several times more complicated (at first) than working with automation, but the result is a much more tasty and aromatic cappuccino.
  2. Type of cappuccino maker. A cappuccino machine is a device for frothing milk into foam. There are automatic models (most often they come as part of automatic coffee machines), and there are manual models. In the first case, the program itself will froth the milk to the required condition - you only need to substitute a container to receive the milk. In the second case, the milk is frothed manually using a stream of steam from the cappuccino maker. We consider the second method preferable.
  3. Possibility of warming up mugs. When wondering how to properly make cappuccino in a coffee machine, remember: the mugs must be warmed up before serving the drink. To do this, the top part of some devices is specially heated so that mugs can be placed on them.

Above we mentioned the basic rules, and the volume, number of posts and power of the coffee machine do not in any way affect the quality of the final product.

Rules for making cappuccino

If you have an automatic machine, then preparing cappuccino takes one operation: select the desired mode on the machine, press a button and get the finished drink. For those who are interested in how to make coffee using a semi-automatic machine, we have made the following instructions:

  1. Prepare in advance the mug into which you will pour the coffee. To do this, heat it to medium temperature (so that it is warm, but not hot).
  2. Place the ground coffee from the grinder (or ready-ground coffee) into the holder. The size of one bookmark should be equal in height to the height of the holder container.
  3. Gently press the coffee into the holder. Note: the press should lie at an angle of 90 degrees, the coffee filling itself should be uniform (not flake, not crumble).
  4. The holder is installed on the post, the coffee machine is turned on. The portion of espresso coming out from under the post should be poured into a previously prepared mug.
  5. At the same time, prepare the milk. The first question at this stage: what kind of milk is suitable for cappuccino and how to brew it? The answer is simple: choose based on your own interests. The most commonly used milk is 1% fat. It is better to take milk at room temperature.
  6. The next question is how to froth milk for cappuccino in a coffee machine? To do this, you need to take a good milk jug (standard volume - 300 ml), fill it 3/4 with milk. After this, we check the steam supply in the cappuccino maker. Is the pressure good? Then turn on the cappuccino maker and place the milk jug under the cappuccino maker at an angle of 45 degrees. Important: The cappuccino maker should be immersed in milk no more than 2.5-3 cm. Whip the milk with smooth movements until foam forms.
  7. The frothed milk is poured into a mug that already contains espresso.

Recommendation: how to make cappuccino foam thick enough. To do this, you need to supply steam at low pressure and keep the milk jug until it is hot. To make the foam more airy, it is necessary to supply steam at high pressure and periodically change the depth of immersion of the cappuccino maker in the milk.

If you know how to make cappuccino correctly, this does not mean that the first time you will get a good drink, which must meet the following requirements (established in many countries of the world):

  • The foam should be dense, without large air bubbles. The size of the bubbles on the foam is uniform, no more than 2-3 mm.
  • The height of the foam should be at least 1/3 of the height of the cup into which the cappuccino is poured.
  • The color of the coffee should be brick-beige, and the drink should have an even taste and not be bitter.

You already know how to make cappuccino in accordance with the general technology, but to create the ideal taste, we will give the following recommendation: try to use only Arabica, and choose it based on your own tastes. Thus, Ethiopian coffee varieties have a pronounced nutty hue, Kenyan varieties have a slight sourness, varieties from Central America have a more tart and strong taste.

Cappuccino recipes

How to make cappuccino in a special machine according to various recipes? Please note that there are no recipes on how to make cappuccino coffee at home - above we described the only preparation option, which is a classical technology. Despite this, preparing cappuccino in a coffee machine provides many variations that will have different tastes. Thus, it is permissible to add various syrups and flavorings to cappuccino: cream, caramel, cinnamon, coconut, chocolate, etc.

Note that the specific recipe (and the amount of additives) depends on the person who made the cappuccino. The standard is no more than 10 ml of syrups per 250 ml mug (the syrup should not interfere with the taste of coffee), the addition of cinnamon, grated chocolate or caramel depends on personal preference.

Homemade cinnamon cappuccino recipe

Ingredients:

  • ground coffee – 2 teaspoons;
  • cream – 50 ml;
  • sugar – 1 teaspoon;
  • cinnamon - to taste.

Preparation

How to make cappuccino? So, let's look at another way to make cappuccino. First, brew the coffee: pour it into a cezve, fill it with boiled water and put it on low heat. As soon as the coffee foam begins to rise, immediately remove the cezve from the heat and wait a few minutes until everything settles again. Then put the coffee back on low heat and repeat this procedure several times. The main thing is to prevent the coffee from boiling, otherwise it will spoil, become very bitter and you won’t get a real homemade cappuccino.

Let's move on to whipping milk foam; this is not at all difficult, but it will require some experience and skill. The most important thing to remember is that only full-fat milk or cream with a fat content of at least 10% can be whipped well. So, pour milk or cream into a saucepan, put it on low heat and wait about 15 seconds for it to warm up a little. Then take a mixer or blender and begin to beat gradually and slowly. We carefully monitor the appearance of large bubbles on the surface of the foam, and after they disappear, we stop whipping so as not to miss the moment the milk is ready. The next, no less important step in preparing cappuccino is to combine coffee with foam: pour the previously brewed coffee into a cup, then very carefully, using a tablespoon, spread the milk foam on top. Well, that’s almost all, just a little bit remains – to beautifully decorate the prepared coffee. To decorate, pour a little sugar on top of the foam and sprinkle everything cinnamon.

Cappuccino is falling in love. At first it’s tart, then it’s sweet and light, but in reality it’s still the same life. But the sweet and tart moments are the best. By the way, you can always just eat the foam and not drink, but few people think of this. Apparently, it's still a matter of combination. (Max Fry)

Coffee with milk whipped into hot thick foam is a very gentle but invigorating drink. Like many joys in our lives (for example, champagne), cappuccino was invented by monks, in this case the Capuchin monks (Monk-Capuchins) of one of the monasteries in northern Italy - the name is named after them. At first, milk was whipped by hand with a whisk, and the first cappuccino machine was invented by a self-taught mechanic, Giuseppe, who lived near the monastery. Since then, cappuccino has conquered the whole world and any decent coffee shop will offer you this wonderful drink. If you have a modern coffee machine in your home kitchen, then preparing cappuccino will not be difficult; other lovers of this magical drink will find my recipe useful - I’ll tell you how to make cappuccino at home without expensive modern devices.

You will need: (1 serving 350 ml)

  • ground coffee 2-3 tsp.
  • water 250 ml
  • sugar 2-3 tsp.
  • milk 3.5% - 6% 70 ml
  • ground cinnamon pinch

Use high fat milk (from 3.5%), it is better if the milk is whole. You can whip low-fat cream (10%). The cream foam rises nicely over the edges of the cup, but it is denser and bouncier and therefore has a hard time connecting to the coffee. Cappuccino is still frothed milk, the delicate foam of which smoothly penetrates the entire depth of the drink.

Step-by-step photo recipe for making cappuccino:

Cappuccino is prepared on the basis espresso coffee, which can be prepared at home using geyser coffee maker. But, if you are not a perfectionist, then prepare coffee in any possible way, for example, brew it in Turk or brew in French press. Before pouring coffee into a cup, strain it using a strainer. Cappuccino - a gentle drink, grains of coffee beans should not be felt in it.

This is what it looks like disassembled: lower compartment (water reservoir), filter container for dry coffee and upper compartment for ready-made coffee.

Pour into the lower compartment cold water to the level of the safety valve. The volume of my coffee maker is 250 ml. Insert the filter and pour ground coffee into it. The birthplace of geyser coffee makers is Italy - there they tightly fill the filter to the brim, obtaining a very strong espresso coffee, the portion of which is literally two sips. If you don't like such strong coffee, fill half the filter capacity. Screw the top compartment tightly and place on low heat. After a while, you will hear a characteristic hissing and snorting - this is water from the lower compartment under the influence of steam pressure making its way into the upper compartment. Be careful here - As soon as the hissing stops, remove the coffee maker from the heat and start preparing airy milk foam.

The cappuccino foam can be whipped with a mixer; a blender with a whipping attachment will also work. Reheat milk(in the microwave for 30-40 seconds) and beat for 1-2 minutes.

you also can use a French press- These are devices for preparing coffee by infusion and extraction. A French press is a special vessel consisting of a flask, a lid and a piston on which there is a filter for coffee grounds. This filter will serve as an excellent beater for us. It has a mesh, many holes and also a spring - all this contributes to the accelerated formation of foam. Warmed milk can be frothed in 1 minute - quickly raise and lower the piston.

You will get this light and airy foam. Properly whipped milk foam, despite its lightness, is very stable and will accompany you until the last sip.

Put it in a cup sugar and pour (⅔ cup volume).

Pour it out milk foam top and sprinkle cinnamon. Cappuccino is ready!

Coffee contains many antioxidants and has a beneficial effect on the immune and digestive systems. Thanks to its tonic effect, it helps cope with stress, overcome apathy, lethargy and drowsiness. However, coffee in its pure form (espresso) is a rather hard drink, so it is better to drink it with milk (latte). Well, cappuccino is poetry, a very correct, harmonious drink and, I would say, soulful!

Liked? Do you want to immediately drink a cup of cappuccino, but you don’t have a coffee machine at home and don’t want to go to a coffee shop? Let's try to cook it ourselves!

Many recipes have been written on how to make cappuccino at home, but the principle is the same everywhere: creating coffee, creating milk foam, combining them and decorating them.

First we brew espresso coffee. Per serving – 1-2 teaspoons of ground coffee and approximately 100 ml of water. You need to carefully monitor the process, and as soon as the foam begins to rise, immediately remove the Turk from the stove and wait for the foam to settle. The foam has settled, we put the Turk on the stove, the foam begins to rise, we remove it and wait for the foam to settle again. This can be repeated 4-6 times without allowing the coffee to boil.

And now - the most interesting moment: making the foam! Milk (about 100 ml per serving) should be poured into a small saucepan, placed on the stove and whisked with a mixer, while heating. You need to heat it to a temperature of 70° C. Be careful! Large bubbles will appear first. We continue to beat. The consistency of foam we need is with small bubbles. When the foam is ready, lightly mix it until smooth and spread it on the coffee previously poured into the cup.

There is also an interesting way to make milk foam using a French press. Personal experience has shown that the French press produces wonderful thick foam! Let me digress a little from the topic of this post - you can make a delicious milkshake using a French press. How exactly is it written

I found the method of whipping milk foam using a French press much more convenient than whipping it with a mixer. I would even say that no difficulties arise, and the result is excellent! Pour milk preheated to 70°C into a French press to no more than one third of its volume. Beat the foam by moving the piston up and down. When the foam reaches the consistency we need, we need to stir it until smooth and pour it into a cup of coffee.

Next is the highlight of the process - decorating the cappuccino! It all depends on your desire to experiment. You can limit yourself to cinnamon or try to draw a masterpiece. You can use a toothpick to draw on coffee at home. The dark coloring will be the espresso foam that remains after pouring in the milk foam. For the same purpose, you can use caramel syrup or chocolate topping. You can also make a simple stencil from paper and, taking cocoa powder, use the stencil to evenly apply the design onto the milk foam.

Of course, someone will say that there are many difficulties in how to make cappuccino at home. However, if you have a desire, don’t be afraid to practice, and you will succeed, I’m sure of it!

This recipe for making cappuccino is also suitable if you use skim milk 😉 I read that the fattier the milk, the easier it is to whip up the foam. However, personal experience has shown that with the help of a French press you can effortlessly whip milk for cappuccino at home into amazing foam, regardless of its fat content!
